Whether you need or want arrow wraps depends on the individual archer. Arrow wraps allow you to customize your arrows to your individual preferences. In other words, if all your equipment follows a color scheme, why shouldn't your arrows match?
There are countless designs and variations of arrow wraps. There's also a major advantage: if your feathers ever break, it's easy to attach new ones to the shaft.
Simply remove the wrap, apply a new wrap, glue on the feathers, and you essentially have new arrows. In short, no. A Draven Archery wrap weighs around 10 grains, so you can ignore the weight. However, if you were to attach the wrap to the center of the arrow, you would alter the spine. Therefore, always attach the wrap to the butt end of the shaft.
