300 (2006)
300 is told from the perspective of Dilios, a soldier from Sparta. The Spartans are portrayed as a people of merciless warriors who kill deformed and weak infants immediately after birth and raise their sons with extreme harshness after the agoge. The narrator recounts the legend of a 15-year-old boy who is sent alone into the wilderness as part of an initiation ritual and there he faces off against a ferocious wolf.
Thirty years later, this boy is King Leonidas I of Sparta, when Great King Xerxes of Persia marches into Greece with a massive army. He sends a messenger to Sparta to offer Leonidas a quiet annexation of Sparta. The latter takes the offer as an insult and throws the negotiator and his entourage into a well. Before Leonidas goes to war to defend Sparta, he consults the oracle about his war plan, according to ancient law. However, the ephors, the guardians of the oracle, have been bribed by Xerxes and refuse to bless him under the pretext of the Carnea Festival, which prohibits all fighting for nine days.
In the council, Leonidas is heavily criticized for his war plans because of the oracle's prophecy, but especially for the hopelessness of a fight against the numerically superior Persian forces. Nevertheless, Leonidas sets out "on a journey" with 300 hand-picked Spartans, each of whom has already sired a male heir. His goal is to stop the Persians at a narrow pass between the sea and the mountains, Thermopylae, where the enemy's numerical superiority is less significant.
On the way there, a group of Arcadians joins the Spartans...

300 | 2 (2014)
The Spartan Queen Gorgo is on a ship of the Spartan fleet, recounting to her soldiers the Battle of Marathon (490 BC) ten years earlier, in which the Persian King Darius was severely wounded by an arrow from the Athenian warlord Themistocles when he and his men launched a surprise attack on the Persians just as they were landing in the Bay of Marathon. As he lay dying, Darius implored his son Xerxes I to end the war, for, as he said, "only the gods can defeat these Greeks." Artemisia, a close confidante and advisor of Greek descent to the Persian ruler, interpreted the last words to mean that Xerxes was to accomplish what only a god could do: destroy Greece.
Xerxes left the royal court wrapped in a mystical shroud, bathed in a supernatural liquid, and returned as a hairless god-king, over two meters tall. Artemisia then killed all of the god-king Xerxes' advisors, teachers, warlords, and all other confidants, fueling Xerxes's desire to subjugate Athens.

He expands his empire to Persia, Egypt, and India, dreaming of uniting the peoples. But Alexander's men do not share his fascination with the "barbarian peoples" and long for their homeland, Macedonia. Alexander's marriage to the Asian woman Roxane, which initially remains childless, is not tolerated. Alexander becomes increasingly lonely and increasingly addicted to wine. In an argument, he kills Cleitus, one of his most loyal companions.
Alexander then invaded India. After being severely wounded in battle, he returned to Persia with his army and spent his last days in Babylon.

Despite this, the free peoples of Middle-earth managed to defeat Sauron. Isildur took the One Ring but was killed in an Orc raid. 2,500 years later, when the ring had almost been forgotten, Smeagol, a halfling, found it and became Gollum through the use of the ring. The ring cursed the creature's life for five hundred years until it set out in search of a new bearer and thus fell into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
The actual action now begins – 60 years later – in the Shire. On his 111th birthday, Bilbo decides to leave the Shire and leave the Ring to his nephew Frodo Baggins. By studying ancient records, the wizard Gandalf discovers that it is the ring of the dark lord Sauron. Sauron, who has returned to his ancient kingdom of Mordor, has his servants, the Nazgûl, search for the ring that would restore him to his former strength. Frodo is forced to flee his homeland. Sam, however, is less than enthusiastic about this suggestion and watches Gollum warily and suspiciously. Meanwhile, the hobbits Merry and Pippin manage to free themselves from the clutches of the Uruk-hai in Rohan. During their escape, they enter Fangorn Forest and encounter an Ent (tree herder) named Treebeard.
Merry and Pippin try to explain the impending war between the races to Treebeard. It is decided to call a meeting of all Ents, an "Entthing." The Ents take a long time to deliberate, and so Merry and Pippin become increasingly impatient.

He then retreats to a cave where, under the influence of the ring, he transforms into Gollum over the centuries, which is depicted in a kind of "time-lapse."

One day, lured by the gold, the fire dragon Smaug appeared, destroyed Dale, defeated the dwarves, and settled in the mountain amidst the treasure. Gandalf then unnoticed marked Bilbo's door with a rune, and one evening Bilbo received a surprise visit from Thorin Oakenshield and 12 other (hungry) dwarves, who, after plundering his larder, conferred with Gandalf. Thorin Oakenshield planned to go to the Lonely Mountain with the 12 dwarves (Balin, Dwalin, Oin, GlĂłin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur, but without the support of his cousin Dain), enter the mountain through a secret door, and drive Smaug from his kingdom.

However, Gandalf admits, this is not done for altruistic reasons: fearing that the forces of evil might win over the dragon Smaug, who once drove the dwarves from Erebor, to their own ends, he is keen to see the dragon killed so that at least the eastern realms remain safe. Encouraged by Gandalf's support, Thorin agrees to an expedition to the Lonely Mountain.
Twelve months later: Despite being rescued by the Great Eagles, Thorin's company, including the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, continues to be hunted by Azog and his Orcs. On the edge of the Misty Mountains, they enter the territory of Beorn, a skin-changer who can assume the form of a giant bear. After an initial, mild encounter with his wild animal form, they are entertained by Beorn, as the Orcs are responsible for the death of his kin. He also equips them with new ponies with which they can reach Mirkwood. Beorn's presence deters Azog's Orcs from a direct attack on the Dwarves. Shortly afterwards, Azog is recalled by the sinister power stirring in the ruined fortress of Dol Guldur, leaving the hunt to his son Bolg.

The Hunger Games (2012)
The film is set in the future in the dictatorial state of Panem, located on the territory of present-day USA. It consists of twelve districts and the Capitol as the seat of government. While the citizens of the luxurious Capitol live in prosperity, the people in the outermost districts struggle for daily survival. Most of them starve because food is scarce and they are not allowed to leave the district to search for food in the surrounding forests.
To demonstrate the Capitol's power over the citizens of Panem, the so-called Hunger Games are held every year. These are a kind of modern-day gladiatorial combat in which the mostly unwilling participants must fight each other to the death until only one remains victorious.
For this purpose, so-called tributes—one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18—are drawn by lot in each district and placed in an arena at the Capitol. The Hunger Games are broadcast nationwide on television, and all citizens are obligated to watch them live. The winner of the Games receives a lifetime supply from the Capitol, and the residents of their district are provided with sufficient essential food for a year...

The Hunger Games : Catching Fire (2013)
The film's action begins several months after the 74th Hunger Games. Ever since Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the Games together, against the Capitol's rules, they have been the constant focus of the still-enraged President Snow.
The staged story of the "tragic lovers" alone serves as life insurance for the two and protection against the Capitol's revenge. At the beginning of the film, Katniss meets with her hunting companion Gale in the forest, where they discuss how to escape the Capitol. It becomes clear that Katniss is severely traumatized by the Hunger Games.
Instead of a turkey, she sees a tribute she shot, causing her to collapse. At home, Katniss receives an unexpected visit from President Snow, who informs her of raging unrest and rebellions in other districts, for which he blames Katniss. These were sparked by her unruly behavior in the Hunger Games.
Snow threatens Katniss with revenge on her family if she fails to pacify the rebels during the upcoming "Tour of Victors" through the districts...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014)
After her rescue from the arena of the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen finds herself in the underground District 13, as District 12 was destroyed by firebombs from the Capitol. District 13, which formerly manufactured nuclear weapons, is officially considered destroyed and no longer exists. Several districts are in revolt against the Capitol.
Katniss visits her devastated home, District 12. The place where she spent her childhood has been almost completely destroyed by the Capitol. In the house that Katniss received from the Capitol after the 74th Hunger Games, she finds a white rose, which is unmistakably a warning from President Snow. District 13, like the Capitol, possessed nuclear weapons after the first war. Therefore, an agreement was concluded between the district and the Capitol, officially destroying the district. The district's residents live in an underground bunker system, and their coexistence is strictly regulated.
During one of the meetings, a television broadcast takes place in which Peeta calls for a ceasefire between the two warring parties, which would, however, be disadvantageous for the rebels. The leadership of the rebellion therefore considers Peeta a collaborator. Gale subsequently convinces Katniss to assume the role of Mockingjay for the rebels. Katniss sets several conditions, including the pardon of the tributes, including Peeta...

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2 (2015)
After being attacked by Peeta, who was subjected to psychological torture in the Capitol before being freed by the rebels, Katniss has to have her throat treated and is only able to fully use her voice after some time. Under Plutarch Heavensbee's guidance, Peeta is also treated.
Katniss's sister, Prim, is sent to him for a first approach, but Peeta throws a fit. Distraught, Katniss requests that President Coin send her to the Capitol, wanting revenge on Snow. But the President instead sends her to the strategically important District 2, because the fighting there is still ongoing and she is supposed to give the rebels hope. Gale, still jealous of Peeta, accompanies her. When Gale and the engineer Beetee discuss plans for a new booby trap that would trigger another shortly after the first explosion to also hit any potential helpers, Katniss is horrified by the unscrupulous war tactics.
In District 2, leader Lyme explains the planned attack on "The Nut," a Capitol fortress built deep into a mountain range and its most strategically important military base. Bombardments will trigger avalanches of debris, blocking the entrances and trapping the fortress's inhabitants within the mountain. Only one escape route remains open for civilians and surrendering soldiers. This could, in fact, force the enemy to surrender.
However, when Katniss is supposed to give a speech to the refugees for propaganda purposes, she is injured in a shootout...

Now he is the Native Americans' "court jester." Morgan also attempts to escape at one point, but then sees his only chance in adapting to the tribe's customs. Over the course of the film, he increasingly identifies with the Native Americans and begins to understand their customs, which initially seem "barbaric" to him. Despite his obvious wealth and fiancée Jill, life at home causes him much distress: He misses "the power of the great spirit" and declares to his butler that he will cross the Atlantic once more.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Hands are in dire straits; a group of white trappers, with the support of the Rickaree, has established a trading post resembling a fort in their territory and is chasing, killing, or enslaving the relatively incapable Yellow Hands. The leader of this evil gang is a certain Zenas Morro, and his second-in-command is a rogue named Gryce, fluent in the Lakota language. When Morgan arrives in the familiar woods, he finds them deserted, and his search leads him to the fort in question. Morro suspects the both foppish and resolute stranger of being a Hudson's Bay Company snoop and, after he has left, orders his assassination. However, Gryce is overpowered by the battle-hardened Englishman in the wooded terrain and shortly thereafter killed in self-defense; however, Morgan was unable to discover the whereabouts of his Yellow Hands.

Later, Erik gives her a radio transmitter; she is to decide for herself whether she is willing to use it to reveal her whereabouts. Once this has happened, the course of events can only end with Hanna's death or that of CIA agent Marissa Wiegler. After some hesitation, Hanna uses the transmitter; it transmits a signal that is picked up by the CIA.
Wiegler sends a team to capture Erik. At the briefing, she tells the others that Erik is a deserting CIA agent whose fingerprints were found on a weapon next to the murdered Johanna Zadeck. He knows something that must be kept secret, so the case cannot be left to Interpol.

Chief Winnetou, the son of the chief, observes that, contrary to all agreements, a railway line is being built through Apache territory. A German surveyor, nicknamed Old Shatterhand because of his quick, hard fist, had surveyed the relevant section of the line for the Great Western Railway so that it runs in a semicircle around Apache territory. Therefore, Chief Engineer Winter commissioned him in Chicago to monitor compliance with the general plan.
Old Shatterhand travels to the railroad encampment with a supply train from El Paso. Scouts Sam Hawkens, Dick Stone, and Will Parker join him along the way. The Kiowas, who are in league with Santer, attack the wagon train but are driven off. At the railroad encampment, Old Shatterhand uncovers the fraudulent schemes of contractor Bancroft. He and his partner Santer plan to save several hundred thousand dollars on construction costs by straightening the line, and secretly pocket the profits. Apanatschi, however, isn't particularly enthusiastic, because she knows the gold only brings bad luck. And indeed, the two fur trappers Pinky and Sloan learn of the gold source and murder Mac Haller when he refuses to reveal its location. Apanatschi and Happy only escape because Old Shatterhand intervenes in time. The two are taken to the Trans Continental Rail Road (TCRR) railroad camp for their safety, and Old Shatterhand rides on to Rocky Town, where a band of bandits led by Curly-Bill is causing trouble.
Curly-Bill has learned from Pinky and Sloan that Apanatschi knows the location of the gold, and has his bandits raid the railroad camp. The villain Murdock was present at the trial and thus learned of the letter. His men ambush the stagecoach carrying Mabel to steal the letter, but the arrival of Old Shatterhand prevents the robbery. Shatterhand asks Mabel not to show the letter to the court so that its contents do not fall into the wrong hands. Mabel does so and demands 60 days from the court to find evidence of her father's innocence.

White Buffalo, leader of the Jicarilla Apaches, is persuaded by alcohol and weapons deliveries to reclaim land already ceded to settlers from the government. Winnetou and Old Shatterhand report this to the governor in Santa Fe, who promises White Buffalo more land and immunity from prosecution if he cooperates with the government.
The blood brothers want to tell him this. But an informant in the governor's office informs Vermeulen, who has one of his henchmen blast rocks at the quarry just as the blood brothers ride past. But their horses have sensed the attack, and the two lie down motionless in the rubble, pretending to be motionless. While Winnetou rides on, Old Shatterhand pursues the assassin, who leads him to Vermeulen. The exposed mastermind sends a cable to the town of Clinton, which lies on Winnetou's route. There, the bandit leader Rollins receives the message to stop Winnetou. Old Shatterhand arrests Vermeulen's henchman: He confesses to Vermeulen's plan, and Old Shatterhand rides after Winnetou.
Thanks to his horse Iltschi, he manages to escape both the first ambush by Rollins and, with difficulty and help from Old Shatterhand, the second. Immediately afterwards, the blood brothers are surrounded by the Jicarillas and warn them in their camp not to allow themselves to be incited by the profiteers to fight for their ceded land. White Buffalo wants to hear his son, Swift Panther, but Rollins brings him in dead, having stabbed him with the knife he had left behind during the fight against the bandits.
