Of regulations and camo lace panties

It's popped up again... the discussion about clothing regulations in archery.

This time the reason was a comment from a commentator in the online section of a pale pink newspaper . This comment, or rather the commentator, is fully aware of his obligation to put a stop to it as soon as possible. It's unacceptable for people to do things that really don't bother anyone - except for the person commenting, of course... and (!!!) on top of that a commentator who immediately posts this good news (not to run around in the woods like that - just a reminder ;) ) for discussion in a social media group - including the comment on the commentator's comment, which properly comments on what the issue is (not to run around in the woods like that - just a reminder ;) ).

Shitstorm included! Justified? Not really! Unless you comment on the commenter's post in an unfriendly and rude way. You want to shout "Easy, easy!" to the other commenters. If you read one of the first comments, it's actually just about lace panties.

One could, of course, comment on the numerous comments on color theory and the visibility of colors, or even read other comments. These comments point out that 3D archery itself originated from hunting training in archery. Whether it would be worth mentioning in a commentary which colors people used to wear in competitions is questionable.

To conclude...

Actually, all this commentary isn't worth commenting on. Except perhaps that, once again, commented worlds are opening up between disc and 3D. Why, actually?

I personally experienced the following...

A 9-year-old boy comes to archery with a completely open mind. A taster session, course rules, etc.

This talented athlete hits gold with his first three arrows from about 10 meters, and the next ones too, by the way. Impressed by so much talent, I suggest he find a club and turn his talent into skill. He does so, thrilled.

Months later...

I meet the young man at a range and he tells me he doesn't shoot there anymore. Completely surprised, I ask why. His answer left me speechless and, above all, very sad, especially given the various youth initiatives that are currently being launched everywhere. "It was boring; I wasn't allowed to go shooting in the woods anymore. They (the club is known to the author) said 3D wasn't possible at all and I should only shoot at the target – I stopped going there!"

My final comment...

Please stop with this nonsense. Clothing, bow type, target, 3D, or sometimes really excessive club bureaucracy. WE are archers. Everyone shoots what they want. And... wears what they want.

Have a good day, maybe comment on cat photos in the future and PLEASE stop spoiling this, OUR WONDERFUL SPORT, for colleagues!!!
