To teach archery from the ground up, the Austrian Archery Federation (ÖBSV) and the Federal Sports Academies offer training courses. The training system is structured in stages:
1. Instructors - ÖBSV and regional associations
Tasks: Club training, beginner training RED-WHITE-RED ARROW , support of the instructors in club training and training of the national squad
Aim of the training: Safety, standard shooting sequence, material knowledge, pedagogy and methodology for teaching young people and adults, archery as an inclusive sport for all, sport-specific, useful minimum knowledge of anatomy and physiology, basic knowledge of biomechanics and knowledge of the organization of sport in Austria.
2. State-certified instructor - BSPA
Responsibilities: Supporting young athletes, recreational athletes, and competitive archers in clubs. Graduates acquire the skills to independently manage goal-oriented training programs, provide comprehensive competition support, and convey the joy and enjoyment of archery. They acquire the competence to consider age- and gender-specific characteristics in their training, including physical conditioning, coordination, and technical skills.
3. State-certified trainer - BSPA
The basic coaching course (1st and 2nd semester of the coaching training) is a cross-sport training course in which the foundation for the specialised coaching course (= 3rd semester) is laid.
Tasks: Squad training, competition preparation (international), training planning for the Olympic cycle, support of the BT in the squad and in the performance center, competition support (international), development/adaptation of sport-specific tests and performance control programs, development of sport-specific programs for general coordination and conditioning skills, development of multi-year programs for the development of young talent, compilation and management of support teams, integration of supporting departments (sports psychology, sports physiotherapy, etc.), lectures and training courses for the ÖBSV, the state associations and the BSPA.
