Star Tournament

Star Tournament - Bogensportinfo

The term "star tournament" often comes up in discussions about tournaments. But what is a star tournament? Where does the star come from, and can anyone participate?

What is a star tournament?

Roughly speaking, a star tournament is a competitive sports tournament organized by the ÖBSV (Austrian Sports Association). A license is required for a competitive sports tournament. These star tournaments are used to determine the rankings and thus the squad. Star tournaments are held in every recognized discipline of the ÖBSV: indoor, outdoor, arrowhead (field), and 3D.

So what’s the deal with the star in the name Star Tournament?

At a star tournament, achievement badges can be achieved - including the WA star.

How can I earn a performance badge?

Once a certain score has been achieved, you can apply for a performance badge. You will need a completed application – which is available for download on the ÖBSV website – along with the scoresheet showing the score achieved (signed by the referee), and a copy of the fee transfer (only for the general and senior classes). After reviewing the application and documents and receiving the transfer, the badge will be sent to the club.

What badges are there?

A distinction is made between WA badges and ÖBSV badges. The WA badges for 1440 outdoor rounds are awarded for (Olympic) recurve and compound bows. Target pins are awarded for other target rounds. Arrowhead badges are awarded only for recurve, compound, and barebow.
The ÖBSV awards badges for the disciplines Indoor (for all standardized bow classes according to WA), Outdoor (1440 round for all, Olympic and 900 round only for Olympic Recurve), Arrowhead (field) and 3D and in general for all disciplines not covered by the WA badges.

How many points do I need to earn for each badge?

WA badge

1440 Round - Recurve

1440 Round - Compound

The same points apply to the Cadets and Masters (Senior) classes, but the star awarded is not gold but silver.

Other Target Rounds - General

Only one disc pin of one color can be awarded, regardless of the round in which the performance was performed.

Cadets can earn the Green and Brown badges for their specific rounds (adjusted distances). Juniors can earn all WA Arrowhead badges because they shoot the same distance as the General Class.
