The background for the founding of the TAI was actually the fact that the
The traditional archery association of Germany lacked international ties. The positions at both the IFAA and the WA were already filled by two other associations. This would not have been compatible with the TBVD's approach. Therefore, a solution was sought, and the idea of the TAI was born. The philosophy and approach of the TAI naturally differs from that of the TBVD. Unlike the TBVD, the TAI must be internationally oriented and consider the needs of other national associations and archery cultures.
The TAI was founded on September 5, 2017. TAI stands for Traditional Archers International. The TAI is therefore only a few years old. In addition to the statutes, the TAI also has a manifesto. This manifesto sets out its philosophy and direction.

The definitions of bow styles for the competitions are considered a novelty.

They become familiar with traditional archery very quickly.
The TAI competitions also differ from those of other international associations.
Although they are similar, they differ in the point scoring as well as in the distances of the animal groups.
The animal groups I, II, III, IV etc. are no longer assigned to the distances. Thus, an animal
of Group I can be shot at a very short distance, an animal of Group IV can also be further away.
It is therefore no longer possible to estimate min. max. distances from experience, so you start completely
from the beginning.
In addition to the sporting events, there are also other events such as the Traditional Archery Meeting,
to which association and club chairmen and/or their deputies are invited, in addition,
Depending on the topic, parkour owners, bow makers, or other luminaries gather to discuss and discuss important topics related to archery. The exchange of experiences, cultural exchange, and knowledge transfer are at the heart of the program.
