With pleasure... and so we set off to see the Styrian archery guide . While Günzi was still doing an inspection round of the course, Rosie was already welcoming us with hot coffee—a good idea, considering it was quite cold.
First the "round," then the obligatory chat. That's what we planned, and that's exactly how it turned out. We immediately felt at home on the training course of the multiple world champion (and many other titles, too).
A wide variety of (but never impossible) firing positions – and the distances were just as varied. Small and large targets, uphill and downhill and straight – what can you say? Günter knows what world-class training should look like.
The "chat" evolved into an unbridled feast on the best Buchteln (cheese) in Styria. In addition to technical discussions, there were also a few stories about Günter's path to the top and why he himself has now dropped out of the national team.
“Quit when things are at their best” also applied to us, as we still had one more course on our “to-do list” that day.
By the way, without Roswitha's Buchteln we would hardly have made it through the rest of the day (40 more destinations and a 3-hour journey home).
