Archery is fundamentally a sport for young and old. Children can begin at around five years of age under adult supervision, while seniors can continue the sport as long as they are fit enough to safely manage the shooting and outdoor activities.
Archery is practiced either purely for fun and as a relaxing leisure activity, or it can also be practiced competitively. Competitive archers participate in national and international tournaments. The doping rules generally applicable in sports also apply.
The training workload of top archers is just as demanding as in other sports. In recreational tournaments, there are archery and age categories, depending on the established rules. National, European, and World Championships are subject to internationally recognized rules that precisely define all archery and age categories and all procedures. The international championships are openly contested. Participation requires a license, which can be obtained through membership in one of the archery clubs.

ÖBSV license
This can be applied for through your club (club membership and membership of the ÖBSV is required).
The licenses are always valid until January 31 of the following year.
From 1 November, the license application for the following year is possible,
but they will only be released once the club membership fee has been paid.
There will be no automatic printing of license cards, as the licenses can be requested via the ÖBSV website anyway. If someone absolutely wants to have a card in hand, they must click on it separately when ordering the license card via DB.
