It's not often you get a glimpse behind the scenes of an Austrian bow maker. This was one of the reasons why we were happy to accept when an invitation to a presentation at the company's new location in Asten landed in our mailbox.
Work on the new company building began about a year ago. Back then, it was still empty (and at first glance, enormous), but today it's well-filled—you always need space.
We were able to take a tour of the hall with a group of like-minded people (how do you gender that?). Production begins. This is where the "bows from Austria" are made. Since I have a "custom longbow" myself (which I was able to wear on a few podiums last year), it's all the more interesting.
We don't want to give too much away – because: why not sign up for a tour yourself? YES, it's possible. Vendors, course operators, and clubs are welcome guests in Asten. Simply send us your >>> request <<< .
Here, for example, you'll learn why these bows are "only" oiled and not varnished (I like that, and it always smells so good ;) ). How they're pressed, shaped, and finely sanded—you don't see it every day.
The large warehouse is also impressive – here you can find pretty much everything related to our sport.
Have fun, Petra & Manfred
