The continental titles and the first places for the Euro Games 2023 will be awarded this week in Munich at the European Outdoor Championships.
Due to the pandemic, the European Championships will take place twice in a row, in 2021 and 2022.
Munich is celebrating 50 years since the 1972 Olympic Games, and it was also in 1972 that archery returned to the Olympic Games.
For this reason, the Olympic shooting range in Munich has spruced itself up.
It's great to see that former buildings that were built specifically for the games are being put to such great use.
296 athletes from 40 different countries are competing for the title. Austria is represented by eight athletes: four in recurve and four in compound archery.
On Monday, during training, the weather gods were still in a good mood; the temperature remained pleasant throughout the day, with even a bit of sunshine. The opening ceremony, where WAE President Mario Scarzella welcomed all athletes and guests, was also pleasant, both in terms of temperature and sunshine.
On Tuesday, Day 2 and the start of the qualification round, the weather unfortunately took a different turn. It rained all morning, forcing the compound archers to shoot their entire qualification round in the rain. By midday, the weather calmed down, and the rain subsided or stopped completely.
In the compound shooters, all reached the next round, the men's team even took 3rd place and the compound mixed team took 13th place.
The recurve archers had a similar outcome, with all archers advancing to the next round. The team and mixed team are also in the eliminations.
We wish you continued success.
