BSV Zurndorf
The BSV Zurndorf – "Schwiebogenschützen" (Swiss Bow Archers) has existed in its current form since 2017. The "Schwiebogen" (Swiss Bow Archery Club) is our home in Zurndorf, northern Burgenland. Archers of all ages and bow abilities train at the club. Our youngest member is just 6 years old, and our oldest is over 70. We also support para-athletes. We offer training in all common bow classes – from traditional longbows to horsebows, traditional recurves, barebows, Olympic recurves, and compound bows.
Our primary focus is on the youth sector, where we strive to offer optimal, age-appropriate archery training to even the youngest athletes, and on the competitive sector, where we not only encourage but also optimally coach and support talented athletes of all ages. However, hobby archers who enjoy archery as a way to relax are also welcome. We're always happy to welcome new members!
In addition to excellent training and rule-compliant behavior, we prioritize one thing above all else: community, which is why we celebrate this with various internal events and club outings. With our club colors—neon green—we can't be overlooked at any tournament or show jumping course.
Training is available on a target range (up to 70 meters), a training course with 10 animals on the target range grounds, and on our public Hansag course (set according to WA rules) in Andau. On an area of just over 3 hectares, visitors can expect 32 3D targets, all set according to WA regulations. Despite the location in the Pannonian Plain, you can expect everything an archer's heart desires: long and close shots, uphill and downhill, meadows, forests, and ponds. The paths between the stations are relatively short, so a trip to the course won't necessarily be a hiking day, but it is still relatively challenging. The course is located within a wind farm, which is why some courses may be closed in winter (details on our website). A quick tip! A trip to the course can be wonderfully combined with a visit to the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park or a wine tasting at one of the numerous wineries in the area.
Use of our archery facilities is, of course, included in your membership fee, and can be used almost 24 hours a day (except at night). Also included in the membership fee are guided training sessions, which take place twice a week for adults and once a week for children and young people.
Especially in the area of youth sports as well as in the elite sports sector, our members have already achieved numerous successes, ranging from world and European championship titles, vice world championship titles, Austrian championship and national championship titles, to numerous national championship titles and tournament victories.
Speaking of tournaments, the Peter Hacker Memorial Tournament is also scheduled for November 13, 2022, at the Hansagparcours. This tournament is dedicated to our former deputy chairman, Peter Hacker, who passed away far too early, and is intended to pay homage to his enjoyment and passion for archery. There are still places available—so register quickly by email. Next year, on September 16, 2023, we will be hosting our first WA 3-D star tournament—the 1st Schwiebogen star tournament. Details and the announcement will follow in due course. We're really looking forward to it.
