Especially in spring, observant archers may occasionally come across hares. These hares sit crouched on the ground, giving the impression of having been abandoned by their mother.
It is not uncommon for people to take the young rabbits home to care for them.
Touching prohibited !!!
This scenario is often misunderstood. Hare mothers deliberately place their young away from each other. To ensure their offspring's safety, they only visit them twice a day to feed them.
The rest of the time, the baby rabbits are on their own and try to protect themselves from enemies by remaining motionless.
As soon as a young animal is touched by a human, even briefly, it absorbs their scent and may be rejected by its mother. The animal will likely starve to death.
We archers can prevent such things. Let's help protect the wildlife in our forests.
Please don’t forget…
WE are in the living room of the deer and the hare.
