Austrian archers have been waiting for this for a long time: the HDH/IAA World Archery Championships in Mokrice, Slovenia. Over 70 archers, dressed in their traditional red-white-red uniforms, have made their way here. Almost all archery classes are represented.
Some had traveled five hours, and the "goodbye hello" was appropriately warm. Many of us haven't seen each other in a long time. News and rumors are exchanged, and a drink or two is shared together. For many, including me, this is certainly one of the highlights of any tournament—even a World Cup. ;)
The opening ceremony was short and sweet, with the entry of the countries omitted this time. The obligatory photos of the nations and a little finger food were served. A little...
Afterwards, almost as if it were a tradition, everyone met at a pizzeria. The food was delicious and the conversations were fun.
Tuesday morning the first ones take off at 8:30 a.m.... flying spread out until noon.
All shooters here seem to have one wish in common... everyone to the kill!!!
