World Archery is the international governing body for the sport of archery. Its mission is to promote and regulate archery worldwide, develop the sport with over 160 member federations through international events, development initiatives, and marketing, and receive support from the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, and the International World Games Association, among others.
It is responsible for establishing the rules and regulations for international archery events, organizing the World Archery Championships, and for the sport at the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, and World Games.

OFFICE
World Archery's headquarters are located at the Maison du Sport International in the Olympic capital of Lausanne, near the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee and a host of other international federations and sports organizations. The office houses the federation's full-time and part-time staff, serves as a meeting place for committees, and as a base for the equipment and tools needed to deliver the international events calendar.
GOVERNANCE
The World Archery Congress is the primary governing body of World Archery and is comprised of the member federations, the Executive Board, and representatives of the organization's standing committees. The Congress has the authority to make changes to the Constitution and Rules of World Archery and elects the President of World Archery, Vice Presidents, and other members of the Executive Council, as well as members of committees and commissions.
EMPLOYEES
Around 15 employees work at World Archery's headquarters in Lausanne, performing four main functions: administration and IT, communications and marketing, development and events.
STORY
World Archery was founded on September 4, 1931, in Lwow, Poland (now known as Lviv, Ukraine) as the Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc, or FITA. Its mission was to promote archery worldwide through the standardization of rules and the development of international events. The federation was a pioneer in modernization, development, and gender equality. Its name was officially changed to World Archery in 2011.
