A pass is a term used in archery for shooting a certain number of arrows, recording the hits, and retrieving the arrows.
A distinction is made between 3-arrow passing (shooting 3 arrows) and 6-arrow passing (shooting 6 arrows).
3-arrow ends are usually shot indoors at championships, while 6-arrow ends are shot outdoors to reduce the time required to record the target and retrieve the arrows.
Whether a round is shot with 3 or 6 arrows depends on the relevant rules of the respective sports association.
The beginning and end of a pass can be indicated by acoustic or optical signals.
