The annual autumn tournament in Hohenau took place on October 1, 2022. For us personally, it was a first.
Early morning on a Saturday. Luckily, the highways were empty, so the road was clear. Upon arrival, we had coffee and a delicious breakfast—you don't want to head out on an empty stomach. A quick warm-up, and promptly at 9:30 a.m., the starting signal sounded. The shooters were expecting 28 animals instead of the usual 32 today on what was probably Austria's flattest course.
We're in a great group, and our results are halfway decent. No matter—it's fun. ;)
After an excellent pork roast, I unexpectedly find myself in the finals (as do two other shooters from our mixed group). It's an exciting affair, and I manage to shoot my way from 4th to 3rd, completely unexpectedly.
Many acquaintances and friends were there, the organization was really great and we had a lot of fun - exactly how a tournament should be.
No, it's not just one of many fall tournaments. Here in Hohenau, the archery community meets at least twice a year—and everyone knows why. ;)
Thanks to the colleagues in Hohenau for a very nice day, Petra & Manfred
