What counts as course and course readiness?
The Safety-First training covers a minimum level of theory and practice and is intended to ensure safe behavior for all archers in all archery facilities in Austria (target, 3D and field).
The training concludes with a multiple-choice exam, administered online by the ÖBSV. The certificate received can be used to demonstrate this training at any time.
Is the training compulsory?
As a sports association, the ÖBSV does not have legal status, but can make recommendations that can be implemented by clubs and operators.
Every operator of a sports facility is therefore free to include the training in their own course or venue rules.
How will Safety First be monitored?
Depends on the operators of the sports facility. The course operator has the option of ensuring a minimum level of theory and practice (guaranteed by Safety First).
What are the benefits for the operator and/or shooter?
The content, which is defined and identical throughout Austria, ensures that both operators and visitors to a sports facility or course are aware of the safe and responsible behavior required by everyone present.
This creates the potential for time and cost savings for both sides because, for the first time, uniform conditions have been created that apply equally to all archery disciplines.
If a shooter is not with the club, how does he get Safety First?
Safety First training courses can be attended as an extra course at some clubs without club membership.
Another option is training with ÖBSV cooperation partners.
An entry in the ÖBSV database is also provided for non-club members.
What does the announced amnesty mean and how will it work?
Until October 2021, shooters who are already members of an ÖBSV club can have the Safety First exam and the RWR credited, awarded by the club board, and entered into the database without an exam.
Where can I get Safety First badges and how much do they cost?
The badges can be ordered from September 2021 for 6 € each using the order form on the homepage in the ÖBSV office.
