The 1st ICE CHALLENGE at Holzmichl

The 1st ICE CHALLENGE at Holzmichl - Bogensportinfo
Manfred Hanus

First of all... it was a really awesome tournament. After all, the highest point in the terrain was over 1,700 meters, and yes... there was even a little snow.

Henry Bodnikl personally created a cross between his Bowhunter Challenge and a beautiful winter tournament. You can see what that means in some of the photos.

But let's start where everything seemed to have ended. Arrival on Thursday – picked up by Thomas, the hut owner, along with his car from the icy access road – nothing was moving (thanks for that!).

Meeting with dear friends at the Altes Almhaus, and a big hello right after my introduction on the way there. Helmut traveled all the way from Germany – great, after all, we haven't seen each other since the HDH/IAA in August. Great conversations and lots of fun. It continued in the same vein on Friday. Many more archers arrived in the evening, and "the party started" ;) – that's part of it too. 😉

Friday's 2-arrow scoring. It wouldn't be a special tournament if the scoring wasn't a little different. 10 for a kill/5 for a body with the first arrow, 7/3 with the second arrow. Different, but fair.

Of course, 58 participants showed up on time on the second day. A 1-arrow score of 20/10 – there was a lot of room to do well... or better yet, COULD, as in my case. 🙈

The awards ceremony took place on Sunday at 3 a.m. The certificates were handed out, and of course, the usual suspects were there. ;)

Henry Bodnik, Michael, and his BSC Holzmichl team did a great job. It was a truly fantastic tournament—maybe we'll see each other at the Bowhunter Challenge this summer.
