New offer for archers in Wels
Since March of this year, there has been a new training facility for archers in the renovated attic of a more than 100-year-old square farm in Wels Wimpassing. At the classic indoor distance of 18 m, archery enthusiasts of all disciplines can let their arrows fly. At the “ASKÖ Attic Archers Wels,” as the club founded in February 2023 calls itself, targets for Olympic Recurve, Traditional, Barebow and Compound await accurate archers.
The natural attic not only offers a great atmosphere, it also fills a gap in Wels' archery offerings, as weather-proof training facilities are not available here. At the Attic Archers, training is now possible at any time of year, even in bad weather. “At the moment, pre-registration is still required, but as soon as we have the first members, we will switch to fixed training times,” explains Andreas Hochmair, the club’s chairman.
The initiators are themselves enthusiastic hobby and competitive shooters who are happy to offer newcomers advice and support. Of course, courses for beginners and those returning to the sport are also offered. "We also plan to present our offer to the neighboring schools in order to inspire the kids to take up archery and perhaps identify one or two talents," says Hochmair.
An outdoor range where shooting at the Olympic distance of 70 m is also currently being planned.
